Placing the Implant

Placing your dental implant

Your may feel a little apprehensive about this stage of your dental implant treatment but please rest assured that you are in safe, experienced hands. We endeavour to make your experience with us as smooth, comfortable and calm as possible.

A single implant usually takes around 15 minutes to place and many patients say treatment is more comfortable than having a tooth removed or having root canal treatment. We will book you a longer appointment to allow plenty of time for the anaesthetic to work and for you to relax afterwards.

After your treatment

Great aftercare from Guildhall Dental starts with a call the next day to see how you’re getting on after your implant treatment. Since the procedure involves minor surgery, it’s not unusual to experience minor swelling and very occasionally some bruising afterwards. For most patients, over-the-counter painkillers are all that are needed to make you feel better during the healing process.

Healing time

It takes between three and six months for the implant to heal before the bespoke replacement crown, bridge or denture can be created and fitted. During this time, we will place a temporary restoration so that you do not have a gap while healing takes place.

Once healed, your replacement tooth (or teeth) can be fitted, leaving you with a beautifully restored smile and fully functioning, secure teeth.
