Full Arch Implants – Full Arch Fixed Bridge
Dentures are not your only option
Many people believe that once they have a full set of dentures, that’s it; that they will have to put up with uncomfortable, wobbly false teeth that cover their palate and prevent them from tasting anything. This simply isn’t true.
Even with no natural teeth of your own, you can have secure replacement teeth that look great and work just like your own teeth used to. They act like your natural tooth root, so you do not feel the difference. With proper care and good oral hygiene, your implant can last a lifetime.

Five things you should know about full arch implants
1 Improve your confidence
If you are ever worried that your denture will move or slip, then the fixed security and life-like appearance of dental implants will help.
2 Enjoy your favourite foods
Because dental implants are fixed you can eat what you like, and because there is no palate you can taste things again and appreciate hot foods, or that ice-cold beer!
3 Better for your oral health
Unlike bridges, dental implants do not damage adjacent natural teeth; and unlike dentures they do not encourage food and plaque build up between supporting teeth. Although dental implants have to be carefully cleaned to preserve the bone around them, they don’t “push” food and plaque into the gaps between other teeth.
4 Long lasting solution
Dental implants are a long lasting solution. Provided they are carefully cleaned and looked after, they will usually last longer than crowns, bridges or dentures. Just like natural teeth, conventional crowns, and fillings, implants require occasional repair and maintenance, but if you look after them well and your mouth stays healthy, they will last years and probably for your lifetime.
5 Preserve healthy bone
Dental implants preserve healthy bone within the jaw. When your natural tooth is removed, the bone within the jaw that supported it dissolves away. Placing a dental implant to replace the tooth helps to conserve that bone and avoids the ageing appearance of a shrunken jaw.

How many implants will I need?
This depends on how many teeth you have missing. Implants can be used to replace several teeth at once. For example, two implants can be used to secure a bridge, through to between four and six implants to replace all the teeth in the jaw with an implant-supported denture.
How long do implants last?
In a healthy person with a healthy mouth and bone, implant roots (the metal part) should last as long as your natural teeth. They need caring for as natural teeth do. The crowns or bridges supported by the implants can last a decade or more.
Will treatment hurt?
All treatment is carried out under a local anesthetic making the area numb. Dental implant treatment is a minor surgical procedure that has been performed for many years, with excellent success rates.

Dental implants cost
Over time, dental implants will prove to be the most cost-effective solution to replacing missing teeth. Although the initial outlay may appear high, considered over say, a 20-year period, the ongoing cost of dentures or fixed bridges would be much greater. Plus you won’t experience sore gums, messy adhesives or embarrassing or awkward moments with loose dentures.
